ProcrastiNATION

SO Sorry my Blog followers I have been completely behind in my postings! I have been a busy little beaver these last couple weeks and a midst  wedding planning, job searching, and business starting I have been NOT logging into my pinterest blog.. NAUGHTY NAUGHTY ERIN!...

So anyways let me catch you up.. first of all I bought my wedding dress! YAY!, I have also decided to crochet the flowers for my wedding which is on June 17th! Father's day!

But anyway back to the projects I've been doing:

FOOD : (favorite recipes)

My new favorite meal Caprese Grilled Cheese! found here
I made this, but didn't take a picture, however the reviews were great, my fiance and his roommates all LOVED IT! (Lesson I learned... zesting a lemon is serious business)

                                                      Yummy Blueberry Breakfast Cake

Crafts: (Yarnstastic)
A flower I made with my wedding colors, it was going to be a boutineer, but My fiance said it was too large.. pattern found Here :FLOWER

And I had a request from a friend to make an Elf Hat for her unborn Son, and after looking up some inspiration Found in my pin HERE, HAT I found a similar pattern and made this bad boy in a little over an hour. LOVE IT. (Would make a good photography Prop too)

Beauty: (Beauty Fun)

Still working on perfection the fishtail braid, it's still a work in progress.
and also, as a straight haired person I am always looking for ways to make waves in my hair (although my hair usually rejects them) and this idea of braiding your hair and then straight ironing it was found on pinterest. Didn't work for me, but Maybe it will work better for you?

My attempt: the inspiration.
And unfortunately that is all I have for you today, I did another yarn project that I made a pattern too, for my fiance's birthday, He's a banana and his name is Arbie. (an inside joke) but I sell amirigurmi and other yarn crafts on my business page

Challenging Domesticity

Confession #2 I am domestically challenged.. when it comes to cooking, cleaning, I didn't have the finest example growing up, so I am self-taught and learning new things everyday, this week I challenged myself more by making new recipes I found on pinterest...

This story will be told in Two chapters.. Chapter ONE:
The Enchiladapocalypse..

I found a recipe for white chicken enchiladas, seemed easy enough, but after I created the rue (french term for flour and butter sauce base) everything sorta went downhill from there.. I didn't let the sauce thicken, I think I was concentrating more on why my then boyfriend was taking so long to come over and worrying that he was in an accident than I was on making this sauce.. so alas, the sauce was thin and the consistency of the final product was BLEGH. HOWEVER this story does have a happy ending.. I ended up bringing the enchiladas over to my boyfriend's house and he ended up proposing to me..

DISCLAIMER: WHITE CHICKEN ENCHILADAS WITH THIN SAUCE DOES NOT ALWAYS RESULT IN MARRIAGE PROPOSALS.
anyway here's the documentation of the baking..etc.. followed by a picture of my engagement ring AND the link to the enchiladas (supposedly they are supposed to be really good if you make them correctly)

Chapter two of my Kitchen endeavors is called TAQUITORGASM
Despite my kitchen failure with the enchiladas, my lovely fiance allowed me to cook for him again... this time I took on another recipe for creamy chicken taquitos.. the description itself made my mouth water... and let's just say this time I did it right and my fiances response after taking his first bite: "So are you going to cater our wedding?" LOL needless to say they were AMAZING! I need to mention that I forgot one ingredient at the grocery store, so even though the recipe calls for green onions, it's safe to say the recipe is amazing even without them.. go figure.. also I came up with my own recipe for guacamole.. here it is.
ONE LARGE AVOCADO
1tbs green salsa
1tsp garlic salt
1/3 tsp chili powder
1tbs lime juice..
MIX IT UP.. it was delicious, let me know how you like it if you try it :)

recipe
and just to be crafty I made a couple things that weren't pins.. this week but just thought I would share them one is a crochet headband for my daughter's teacher and the other is a valentines garland made of felt.

AND I tried another hairstyle! Yup I did.. I may be getting better at this whole style thing.. not sure... but I found a pin for 15 alternative bun hairstyles for moms.. and since I have been in a mom hair "rut" for sometime I pinned this site and it was amazing!! This specific hairstyle is the something "tuck" can't remember.. but feel free to explore the site! It's amazing!

Happy pinning Everyone!

Seeing Hearts

So I told you in a previous post that there would be more yarn hearts and alas this post has come.

The line doesn't stop here though.

I have found many patterns for hearts on pinterest and have been saving them all in my "yarntastic" board.
And today or tonight I should say, I gave them a whirl...
Voila!

A

B

C

D

In Hindsight I missed the mark on Heart D and perhaps should go back and try again, it's the smallest of the hearts and was recommended as a cute bobby pin accessory or as my boyfriend adorably calls them (bobbing pins).

Heart C was a UK pattern that I had to translate into US, which was new but a great learning process and I like the off kilter shape.

Heart B was the easiest to make, I highly recommend it, I used too big of a hook, it's supposed to be tighter, and when it is, it looks glorious!

Heart A is one heart of a garland pattern, more are to come, it's the most intricate but also the most aesthetically pleasing in my opinion.

AROUND THE HOUSE:

and just for kicks I also (this week) took some advice from one of the pins in my Organizing 101 Board and did this trick to organize my scarves! (shower rings and hangers were only 99 cents at the dollar tree! SCORE!)

Perhaps I need more scarves??? CROCHET TIME!!!

Until next time: Happy Pinning!

A Tangled Mess

Ok Confession, I am horrible at anything beauty related. Hair, Make-up, Clothes.. You name it! I am aesthetically challenged in those departments. But since this blog is a journey of trying new things, I couldn't leave out the hairstyles and beauty part of pinterest now could I?

Ok OK so it's 2:00 in the morning and I told myself I wouldn't sleep until I got the Fishtail braid right. I have three how-to links pinned to "beauty fun" pinboard and I still had to try like 6 times to get it close to being right. I think I overthought it too much. Maybe. I also am tired... but anyway here is a journey in pictures followed by some helpful links to get it right. The first ones you see are my attempts and the last picture you see is the point where I was "close enough" to stop trying.. for now... I will keep you posted more on my progress later.

Voila.
